Pre-Wax Guide
How to Prepare for the Best Results
For the most comfortable and effective waxing experience at Geminii Esthetics in San Jose, a little preparation goes a long way. Follow these quick steps to help your skin stay smooth and irritation-free.
1. Arrive with Clean Skin
Shower before your appointment and skip lotions, oils, deodorants, or perfumes on the area to be waxed. Clean skin helps the wax adhere properly.
2. Exfoliate 24 to 48 Hours Before
Gently exfoliate a day or two before your service to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid exfoliating the same day as your appointment.
3. Let Hair Grow to the Right Length
Hair should be about one quarter inch long, roughly the size of a grain of rice. Avoid trimming too short, as it may affect results.
4. Skip Caffeine and Alcohol
On the day of your appointment, avoid caffeine and alcohol since both can increase sensitivity. Drink water to keep your skin hydrated and calm.
5. Wear Loose Clothing
Choose breathable, loose-fitting clothes to reduce irritation and help your skin recover comfortably after waxing.
Before Your Wax: Products to Avoid
To protect your skin and prevent irritation, please avoid waxing if you currently use or recently used:
- Accutane (Isotretinoin): Wait at least six months after stopping.
- Retin-A, Retinols, Differin, or Adapalene: Stop use five to seven days before waxing.
- AHA’s, BHA’s, Glycolic or Salicylic Acid: Avoid for three to five days before treatment.
- Chemical Peels or Microdermabrasion: Wait three to five days before waxing.
Extra Tips
- Exfoliate gently one to two days before your service.
- Avoid tanning 24 hours before your appointment.
- Hydrate and come relaxed for best comfort.
