Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know Before Your Visit

At Geminii Esthetics, I want you to feel informed, comfortable, and confident before your appointment. These are the most common questions I receive about waxing, skincare, and brow services at my San Jose studio.

  • 1. What type of wax do you use?

I use premium soft and hard wax so I can customize every service based on your hair type and skin needs. This lets me choose the option that gives you the smoothest, most comfortable results while keeping your skin calm and protected.

  • 2. How long should my hair be for waxing?

Your hair should be about one quarter inch long, similar to the size of a grain of rice. Please do not trim the area before your appointment, since trimming too short can affect the results. If needed, I can trim safely in the studio.

  • 3. Does waxing hurt?

Most clients describe waxing as a quick sting that becomes easier with consistency. As your hair grows back finer and softer, the process becomes more comfortable over time. I use gentle techniques and high quality wax to help minimize discomfort.

  • 4. How should I prepare for my appointment?

Preparation helps me give you the best results. Before your visit:

    • Exfoliate gently twenty four to forty eight hours beforehand
    •  Avoid caffeine and alcohol on the day of your appointment
    •  Wear loose, breathable clothing
    •  Do not shave or trim because I need enough length for the wax to grip
  • 5. Can I get waxed while on my period?

Yes, you can still be waxed. Please wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup. You may feel slightly more sensitive, but it is completely safe.

  • 6. How often should I schedule waxing appointments?

Most clients return every four to six weeks. If you are new to waxing, coming every four weeks is strongly recommended because it helps slow growth more effectively and makes future sessions easier and more comfortable.

  • 7. What is the proper aftercare?

The list below is general aftercare. I also recommend specific products and a personalized routine based on your skin type and concerns.

     After your wax:

    • Avoid hot showers, saunas, tight clothing, sex, swimming, and workouts for twenty four to forty eight hours
    •  Avoid touching the area
    •  Begin gentle exfoliation after two to three days to prevent ingrown hairs
    •  Apply a soothing lotion or aloe based gel
    •  Avoid direct sun exposure for at least forty eight hours
  • 8. What if I am nervous or this is my first time?

I completely understand. I walk you through every step, explain what to expect, and make sure you feel supported, comfortable, and confident throughout your appointment.

  • 9. Do you wax all body types and genders?

Yes. I welcome all bodies and all genders. My studio is an inclusive, respectful, and professional environment for everyone.

  • 10. What if I experience an erection during my waxing service?

The body can react to sensitivity or nerves. This is normal and I handle it professionally as long as boundaries are respected. If any boundary is crossed or inappropriate behavior occurs, I end the session immediately. Your safety and mine are always the priority.

  • 11. How should I prepare for a brow lamination?

    For the best results:

    •  Allow your brows to grow untouched for at least three weeks
    •  Avoid retinols, AHAs, BHAs, and other active ingredients for seven to ten days before and after your service
    •  Arrive with clean, makeup free skin
    • These steps help your brows stay smooth, lifted, and beautifully shaped.
